Jill Thomas recently studied in the MFA (Painting) Program at Arizona State University and since has a new love for humidity and green. She received her BA in Philosophy from Louisiana State University and studied for a year in the graduate program in Art History at the same institution. For five years she worked for the artist Stephen Wilson becoming skilled in designing and fabricating leaded and faceted stained glass, mosaic and gemeaux. Jill was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, but feels equally at home swimming in the ocean. Please contact her with comments, questions, or to purchase or commission artwork. Artist's Statement: As an artist I strive first and foremost to engage the viewer visually in a celebration of beauty. Secondly, I aspire to cue a cerebral inquiry—about art, about life, about individuality and purpose. This combination of retinal pleasure, existential indulgence, and crafted physical labor are the reasons that I create and enjoy art. I am thankful for the innate urge within me to make art, and the insatiable pleasure I derive from working in all media.
